Helping lost readers find their paperbound soul mates

I have a confession to make. And I really don't think it's that big of an issue at all or anything serious. It's just that I may have a teensy-weensy bit of an addiction... to fashion magazines. Last month, I bought four fashion magazines. But I was being good that month because I also swapped my Harper's Bazaar and InStyle out to a friend to read her Vanity Fair and Elle. To be fair, I call it all research because I'm studying up on each magazine brand to try to get my foot into the magazine publishing industry's door.

It's been years since I've had a steady subscription, and now I just walk into the bookstore or magazine stand and have at it. I guess that's another deadly sin, buying at sticker price. But when you've been out of the fash-mag game for so long, how do you know which brands to invest your hard-earned cash into a year-long relationship?

That's when it hit me.

I have found my life's calling - I will become a fashion magazine matchmaker, helping lost and lonely readers find their paperbound soul mates. If I need to buy all these magazines anyway, why not share the wealth of knowledge? So, I've decided to start this blog, called The Fashion Magazine Addict, to write up monthly reviews of your favorite fashion magazines and highlight the best and worst feature stories, cover girls (and their photoshopping jobs), photo editorials, and whatever else pops into my head. I'll even give the most outstanding magazines my highly coveted stamp of approval. I'll do all this so you won't have to buy another disappointing issue. Maybe you'll find someone new, and heck, someday you might start trusting again to buy a year-long subscription.

Baby steps, my friend. Baby steps.
